ATLANTA, Ga.- Gonzaga Bulldogs right-handed pitcher Payton Graham was selected in the 7th round of the MLB draft on Tuesday, making him the most recent Zag to be drafted after the St. Louis Cardinals selected him with 210th overall pick.
Across his three years at Gonzaga, Graham made 30 appearances with 65.1 innings pitched. Graham tossed 74 strikeouts, averaging over nine strikeouts per every nine innings pitched. In his only appearance of the 2025 campaign Graham struck out seven batters and only gave up two hits across five innings while securing a win against UC Davis.
Payton Graham is the highest drafted Gonzaga player since the second day of the 2022 MLB Draft, when Trystan Vrieling and William Kempner were selected with the 100th and 106th picks of the draft. Graham is now the 55th player under Mark Machtolf to be taken in the MLB draft. This marks the fifth consecutive year that the Bulldogs have had a player selected in the MLB draft.
There are currently 10 former Zag players on minor league rosters and another four current major league pitchers that played for the Bulldogs.
