SAN BRUNO, Calif. - Gonzaga University men's basketball player Mike Hart was named to the West Coast Conference Men's Basketball All-Academic squad while Bulldog women's basketball player Shannon Reader was named to the WCC Women's Basketball All-Academic Team.

Hart, a redshirt junior on the 23-5 Zag squad, has played in all 27 games for Gonzaga, getting the starting nod 18 times. He is fourth on the team in rebounds per game at 3.0 and tied for fifth in steals with 22. The Portland, Ore. native, who was named honorable mention All-Academic in 2010-11, is also averaging 1.8 points per contests and has dished out 17 assists. Hart holds a 3.63 GPA in business administration.

Reader, a senior who is the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee President, has seen action in 21 games for Gonzaga. She is shooting 50.0 percent (8-of-16) from the field, has grabbed 34 boards - 15 offensive, and has eight steals, six assists and one block on the year. The Lake Oswego, Ore., native hold a 3.26 GPA in public relations.

The 2012 West Coast Conference All-Academic teams honor some of the league's finest examples of the consummate scholar-athletes. At the conclusion of each athletic season, the WCC selects an all-academic squad for each WCC-sponsored sport. To be considered, a student-athlete must maintain at least a 3.20 cumulative grade point average, while also being a significant contributor to his or her team.
