SAN BRUNO, Calif. - Gonzaga University baseball senior outfielder Royce Bolinger received his first Rawlings West Coast Conference Player of the Week Monday.

Bolinger also becomes the first Bulldog to receive the conference's player of the week honor. Fellow senior Tyler Olson was named Rawlings WCC Pitcher of the Week on March 5 for the Bulldogs first weekly accolade.

A native of Scottsdale, Ariz., Bolinger went 9-for-17 (.529) with seven RBI and three home runs in the four-game home series against the University of Hawai'i last weekend. In the series opener Friday, Bolinger drove in the eventual winning run in the first inning in the Bulldogs 4-1 win, and was 4-for-8 with three runs and two RBI in Saturday's doubleheader. He also hit his first home run in the series to help the Bulldogs shutout the Rainbows 4-0 in game one. On Sunday he hit a two-run home run to the deepest part of the yard and his next at-bat he led off with his second homer to left field.

Bolinger, who is currently on a season-best nine-game hitting streak, is carrying a .366 batting average and is leading the Bulldogs with five home runs and 19 RBI this season.

The Bulldogs open their West Coast Conference season this weekend with a three-game home series against Pepperdine University. The series starts Friday at 6 p.m.
