Fahy Earns WCC All-Academic Men's Golf Recognition

SAN BRUNO, Calif. - Gonzaga University sophomore James Fahy has been named to the West Coast Conference Men's Golf All-Academic Team announced today by the conference office.

Fahy, a native of Vancouver, British Columbia, holds a 3.21 GPA in accounting.

Joining Fahy on the squad are three repeaters from 2012 - Saint Mary's Ben Geyer, BYU's Jordan Hammer and Santa Clara's Scott Lowe. Kevin DeHuff of Pepperdine, Grant Forrest of San Diego, Alexis Gemme-Piacente of San Diego and Linus Vaisanen of San Diego round out the eight member squad.

Fahy's best finish this season was a tie for 15th at the Itani Quality Homes Collegiate hosted by Washington State University at the Palouse Ridge Golf Course as Gonzaga tied for fifth with a 54-hole score of 908. Fahy posted a 54-hole score of 227. He also tied for 20th at the Mark Simpson Colorado Invite with a 214 - his lowest 54-output of the season thus far - and tied for 25th at the Wyoming Cowboy Classic at 147 to help Gonzaga to a first-place finish. Fahy's best 18-hole round thus far is a 68 in the second round of the Cowboy Classic.

At the conclusion of each athletic season, the WCC selects an all-academic squad for each WCC-sponsored sport. To be considered, a student-athlete must maintain at least a 3.20 cumulative grade point average, while also being a significant contributor to his team.
