Zags Hosts Oklahoma Sunday In Exhibition Match

ON TAP: The Gonzaga University women's soccer team will have one tune-up prior to its 2013 campaign beginning. The Bulldogs host the University of Oklahoma Sunday in its lone exhibition match of the season. The Zags match-up with the Sooners, members of the Big 12 Conference, at 11:30 a.m. at the Gonzaga Soccer Field.

WHAT GONZAGA RETURNS: The Gonzaga University women's soccer squad returns 14 letterwinners in 2013, including seven starters, and adds 11 newcomers and two returning redshirts. The team is led by seniors Emily Eckmann and Ali Ohashi, along with a strong junior class of Tori Lee, Cricket Harber, Katey Pennington, Kasey Rubosky and Jordan Travis. Rubosky, a midfielder, returns as the squad's leader in points and goals, having notched 10 points on four goals and two assists a season ago. Lee, another midfielder, is the Bulldogs returning assists leader, having tallied five as a sophomore.

A TON OF NEW FACES: Gonzaga University welcomes 11 newcomers to its women's soccer team in 2013. The last time the Bulldogs has such a large freshman class was in 2010 when head coach Amy Edwards - then in her second season with the Zags - also welcomed 11 freshman. This year's freshman class consists of four defenders, three midfielders, two forwards and two goalkeepers. They also represent four different states: California, Oregon, Utah and Washington.

THE SCOOP ON OKLAHOMA: The University of Oklahoma women's soccer team is coached by Matt Potter, in his second year at the helm. The Sooners have a young roster, featuring 15 newcomers. The squad itself is led by the senior trio of Bailey Boulware, Zoe Dickson and Kathryn Watson. Oklahoma's top returning scorer - from the 2012 team that went 7-9-4 overall and 3-3-2 in the Big 12 - is junior Emily Bowman who recorded three assists and one goal for five points.
