SPOKANE, Wash. - Gonzaga University baseball has the opportunity to earn a berth into the West Coast Conference Championship Tournament this weekend as the 23rd-ranked Pepperdine University Waves travel to Spokane for the final regular-season games.
Gonzaga (23-26, 15-9 WCC) is currently tied for second in the league standings, but has not earned a berth into the tournament. Pepperdine (35-14, 17-7) has clinched a spot.
Along with the Bulldogs, Loyola Marymount, San Diego, Pacific and Santa Clara are battling for the three remaining spots.
There is a possibility GU can repeat as WCC regular-season titles if the team sweeps Pepperdine and Loyola Marymount drops a game in its series with Pacific.
