SPOKANE, Wash. - It was a record-breaking spring in the classroom for Gonzaga University's student-athletes according to the second semester numbers.
There were 128 student-athletes who earned their way onto either the Dean's or President's list this semester with 56 making the Dean's List with a grade-point-average of 3.50-3.69 and a semester-record 72 named to the President's List with GPAs of 3.7-4.0.
The departmental GPA was also a record 3.33.
All 18 athletic programs posted team GPAs above 3.0 and 15 student-athletes earned perfect 4.0 GPA.
The Bulldogs also had a school record 11 teams honored recently by the NCAA for Public Recognition Awards in conjunction with the Academic Progress Report for 2012-13.
"These numbers once again reflect the tremendous effort put in by everyone on the academic front," Gonzaga athletic director Mike Roth said. "Our student-athletes continue to raise the bar academically, which is something we talk about all the time as one of our primary goals - winning in the classroom. They undoubtedly work very hard, and the coaches, staff and faculty also play an integral role in this success. Mike Roden (Assistant Athletic Director/Student-Athlete Support Services) and the support services staff are to be especially commended for their continued commitment to the academic performance of our student-athletes."
