Alice Kim Named WCC Women's Golf April Player of Month

SAN BRUNO, Calif. - Gonzaga University junior Alice Kim captured medalist honors at both outings during the month of April and collected her first career West Coast Conference Player of the Month accolades, WCC Commissioner Jamie Zaninovich announced.

Kim has won three events during a record-setting junior campaign for the Bulldogs.

The native of Honolulu started April with a win at The Gold Rush Invitational at Yorba Linda, Calif., and then became the second Gonzaga individual to win the WCC Championship in three years with an even-par win in Bremerton, Wash. Her two victories ran her winning streak to three straight tournaments dating back to the MountainView Collegiate in Tucson, Ariz. Kim has led each of the past three tournaments - including the WCC Championship - wire-to-wire.

She averaged 71.83 strokes per round in the last two tournaments and her 54-hole scores of 215 and 216 in the two tournaments each rank in the all-time Gonzaga Top 10. Her efforts helped Gonzaga win The Gold Rush and finish second in the WCC Championship. Gonzaga earned its second straight at-large berth into the NCAA Tournament. The Bulldogs open NCAA Regional play Thursday in Cle Elum, Wash., at Tumble Creek at Suncadia Resort.
