SAN BRUNO, Calif. - Gonzaga University forward Heather Johnson has been named to the All-West Coast Conference women's soccer preseason team as selected by the conference coaches.
Johnson, from Kennewick, Wash., tied for the team lead in goals last season with six and was second on the team in scoring with 12 points. She was a second-team All-WCC pick a year ago.
The coaches also tabbed the Bulldogs to finish eighth in the upcoming season, the Bulldogs receiving 25 votes.
After capturing a share of the West Coast Conference championship for the second straight year in 2013, BYU was picked as a narrow favorite to win the 2014 title with 73 points. The University of Portland received 72 points and Santa Clara University 69.
All 10 West Coast Conference teams open the 2014 campaign Aug. 22 with the Bulldogs traveling to Cal State Bakersfield.
