ABOUT THE PAT LESSER HARBOTTLE INVITATIONAL:

  • The tournament is named after Pat Lesser Harbottle, who became the first woman to play on a men's golf team after she joined Seattle U in the mid-1950s. She won the 1953 National Women's Collegiate Championship, 1955 US Women's Amateur and 1955 Western Amateur Championships.
  • This is the first time Gonzaga has played in the Seattle U-hosted event. The inaugural Pat Lesser Harbottle Invitational was held in 2014, again at Tacoma Country and Golf Club. This is one of two tournaments new to the Bulldogs' 2015-16 schedule, the other coming in April at the Silverado Showdown.
  • Three of the 15 teams in the field are currently ranked in GolfWeek's top 100: Washington (21), Gonzaga (56), and Idaho (88). Additionally, the Zags have already competed against Cal State Fullerton at the Dick McGuire Invite in September and against both Washington and Seattle U at the Edean Ihlanfeldt Invitational last week.

LAST TIME OUT:

  • Freshman Bianca Pagdanganan picked up her first collegiate victory, winning the Edean Ihlanfeldt Invitational at Sahalee Country Club last week. She's the first Bulldog to claim medalist honors since Alice Kim won the 2014 WCC Championship, and she's the first freshman to win since current senior Raychelle Santos took two tournaments during the 2012-13 season. The win vaulted Pagdanganan into 26th in GolfWeek's individual rankings.
  • Pagdanganan shot 69 (-3) in the first round of the Edean, becoming the fifth Zag to break 70 in a tournament. That score is tied for ninth all-time in GU history. Her 36-hole (142; 7th) and 54-hole (217; T-12th) are also among the Zags' top 15 all-time scores.
  • Junior Ciera Min fired 73 (+1) during a final round which saw just six players shoot 73 or better, climbing 22 spots up the standings and into a tie for 12th. It's her first top 15 finish of the season and 12th of her career.
  • As a team, the Zags finished seventh at Sahalee. Their 18-hole and 36-hole team scores were both among the 15 best in program history; the 18-hole score of 292 is tied for 12th-best while the 36-hole mark of 597 is 12th.

BACK TO BACK:

  • Gonzaga will wrap up the only instance this season of two tournaments in two weeks at the Pat Lesser Harbottle Invitational. They have at least 10 days of rest between tournaments for the rest of the year.

THE ARTIST FORMERLY ALSO KNOWN AS JENA:

  • If you're scouring the results page for freshman Jena Gao, you may be searching for a while. Gao's given name is Meiqi and is used for official results. The Shanghai native does go by Jena on GoZags.com, however.

ADD IT TO THE LIST:

  • The Zags will play on Tacoma Country and Golf Club for the first time since 2010. Both coaches -- head coach Brad Rickel and assistant coach Victoria Fallgren -- have seen the course, but no current player has played the loop while representing Gonzaga.
