SPOKANE, Wash. -- San Francisco women's soccer won their ninth game of the season after a tough 3-2 victory at Gonzaga Saturday.

San Francisco (9-3-3, 3-1-0 West Coast Conference) and the Zags combined for four goals in the first half, including three in the first 18 minutes of play. There were a combined 31 shots taken in the match, with both teams having eight in the opening stanza. USF finished with a 19-12 advantage in shots.

The Dons' Samantha Jehnings opened the scoring in the seventh minute. She made a nice turn at the top of the box and flicked a ball to the far post for the goal.

In the 14th minute, Lexi Clark stole the ball from a defender and beautifully struck it to the far post from about 22 yards out. It was Clark's first goal of her career, on her third shot of the season. About four minutes later, Karley Baggerly scored her conference-leading seventh goal to put GU ahead. The junior dribbled through the box and slid a shot low to the near post.

Entering the game, the Bulldogs had only two goals in the first half this season. They scored two in the first 18 minutes Saturday.

San Francisco's Camille Wilson evened the score 11 minutes before halftime off of a penalty kick. It was her second goal of the season. USF's Sonja Giraud scored the game-winner in the 71st minute. She received a pass from Rochelle Weerackoon and one-timed it past the keeper.

The Zags' (2-8-5, 1-3-1 WCC) Christie Tombari brought her conference-high saves total to 87 for the season. She had eight Saturday, with four in each half. Clark led GU with three shots, putting two on frame.

Madalyn Schiffel had five saves in the USF net. Giraud took a team-high five shots, while three players had two shots on goal. The Dons took seven corner kicks, while Gonzaga had four.

The Bulldogs return to the road and are at Pepperdine and Loyola Marymount on Friday and next Sunday. Friday's match at Pepperdine is schedule for 3 p.m.
