SPOKANE, Wash.--Gonzaga men's tennis head coach Peter MacDonald recently signed three players to National Letters of Intent. Samuel Feit, Simon Homedes, and Vincent Rettke have all committed to competing for the Bulldogs come August 2016.
"We're very excited to sign such a great group of guys. Each one of these guys has what it takes to continue to develop and be successful at the next level. The men's tennis team works hard every day to get better, and these guys are all very talented and have great work ethic and grit as well. That's why they're going to fit into the culture of this team and help us do great things!"
Samuel Feit | Los Angeles, Calif.
A lefty from Los Angeles, Feit brings a bit of success at the regional level to Gonzaga. He's posted two USTA tournament victories in 2015, taking the Esme Pearson Memorial Junior in May and the 58th Annual Long Beach Junior in March. He's also made a few semifinal appearances at the 2015 Anaheim Tennis Center Spring Junior Open and the Harper Ink Junior Open. Last year he also saw some successes, winning the '16 singles and doubles brackets at the Mike Agassi No Quit Championships while reaching the semis of the USTA Open Regional as well. Feit is a four-star recruit according to TennisRecruiting.net, and he's currently among the top 125 recruits in the nation and top 40 in California. |

Simon Homedes | Lake Oswego, Ore.
Homedes, meanwhile has seen some success both on the USTA trail and in high school tennis. He's a two-time state tournament qualifier, reaching the quarterfinals of Oregon's 6A doubles tournament in 2014, and he advanced to the second round of the singles bracket in 2015 as a junior. Prior to that doubles run in state, Homedes and his brother won the district doubles title. The Lakeridge High representative helped the Pacers finish in a tie for fourth in the tournament in 2015 after going undefeated in league play. Also, Homedes has played in the championship matches of a handful of USTA tournaments, reaching the finals of the Lewis & Clark Spring Champs and the final of the TRL District Tennis Tournament, both of which took place in May 2015. In 2014, Homedes won the Willamette Valley Junior Championship. He's currently rated as the No. 5 player in the state of Oregon and among the top 250 recruits in the nation. |

Vincent Rettke | Madison, Ala.
Rettke is one of if not the top junior players from the state of Alabama. According to TennisRecruiting.net, he's the state's top prospect and No. 51 in the entire nation. He has a resume that backs up that ranking too as he's picked up tournament victories in the Icy Hot USTA Southern Level Two Championship and Alabama Junior State Qualifying. Also in that Alabama Junior qualifier, he took second in the doubles bracket. Rettke hasn't limited his playing to Alabama and the south neither as he reached the Round of 32 at the USTA National Championships in August 2015 as well as competing in the National Clay Court Championship and the USTA National Selection Tournament earlier in the year as well. He's also competed interscholastically, winning the Alabama 7A state title in April. |
