WBB Hosts USF in Pink Game Saturday

GU HOSTS DONS IN ANNUAL PINK GAME
• Gonzaga seeks to extend its season-long win streak to 13 games versus San Francisco Saturday in Spokane.
• The Zags are looking for their first 12-0 start to conference play since 2010-11, when they finished 14-0.
• Saturday's game is sold out. It is the 15th sellout crowd in the McCarthey Athletic Center, and 10th in WCC play.
• Saturday's tip-off is scheduled for 2 p.m. Pacific Time. The game will have live video and stats on GoZags.com. Live radio will be on The Key 1050 AM.

THE LAST TIME OUT
• GU won its 12th straight game and remained unbeaten in WCC play with a 76-49 win over Santa Clara Thursday.
• Keani Albanez scored a career-high 22 points, making four of her six three-point attempts.
• Gonzaga trailed for only 3:56 early in the game, and led by as many as 29 points late in the game.
• The Bulldogs had a 41-30 rebound advantage and grabbed 18 offensive boards. They scored 24 second-chance points.

GONZAGA STORYLINES
• The Bulldogs are 15-0 when they score at least 70 points so far this season. They are also 12-0 when their bench outscored the opposing bench, and 9-0 when their opponent commits more turnovers.
• Gonzaga has won 29 straight conference games at home, dating back to a 66-63 loss to Saint Mary's on Jan. 14, 2012. Since 2010, the Zags are 43-1 at home versus WCC opponents.
• In the 440 minutes of conference play, GU has trailed for 15:47. That's roughly 3.6 percent of the time. Pacific had the lead for the longest time, 4:58.
• GU received four votes in the AP poll and two votes in the USA Today Coaches' poll this week.
• The Bulldogs are ranked 41st in the latest RPI rating, they were also 41st before the Santa Clara game.
• Gonzaga is fifth in the country with a 77.1 free-throw percentage.
• The Zags' three-point defense ranks 19th in the nation, and tops in the conference, holding opponents to 26.6 percent shooting from behind-the-arc.
• Keani Albanez is tied atop the West Coast Conference with 2.5 steals per game.
• Shelby Cheslek leads the conference with a .565 field goal percentage (35-of-62) in WCC play.

ABOUT THE DONS
• USF dominated in a 79-44 win at Portland Thursday. The Dons shot 55.2 percent from the floor, compared to Portland's 29.1 percent shooting. USF outrebounded the Pilots, 42-26.
• Five of San Francisco's seven conference losses have been by single digits.
• The Dons are third in the conference allowing 60.7 points per game, and are fourth scoring 67.8.
• San Francisco is second in the conference with a +1.9 turnover margin.
• Taylor Proctor leads USF with 15.5 points and 8.0 rebounds per game. She is second in the WCC shooting .514 in conference play.
• Taj Winston is tied for first in the conference averaging 2.5 steals per game.

SERIES HISTORY
• Saturday is the 60th game between Gonzaga and San Francisco. GU has a 35-24 edge.
• The Zags have won the last 19 matchups, dating back to a 75-67 USF win in San Francisco in the opening round of the 2006 WCC Tournament in Spokane. Gonzaga was the second seed, and the Dons were the seventh seed.
• GU has won 12 straight at San Francisco, dating back to a 59-57 loss in 2003. Gonzaga is 14-12 on the road versus the Dons.
• Gonzaga won last season's home meeting, 101-66. Lindsay Sherbert and Sunny Greinacher combined for 40, with Sherbert scoring 23.
• Gonzaga won the first meeting, 57-36, in Spokane in 1988.

CHASING MILESTONES
• Sunny Greinacher
- Greinacher is currently fifth in program history with a .508 FG Pct.
- Needs one game to become ninth all-time in GU history playing in 124 games.
- Needs 81 points to become 15th on the Gonzaga all-time scoring list.
• Keani Albanez
- Albanez is currently fifth in program history with 423 three-point attempts.
- Needs six made three-pointers to have possession of fourth all-time at 147.
- Needs two games to equal 10th all-time at GU at 123.
- Needs seven steals to equal Loretta O'Brien's 162, which is 10th all-time at GU.
• Shelby Cheslek
- Cheslek is sixth in program history with 123 blocks, seven away from fifth.

STAYING OUT IN FRONT
• In the past 520 minutes of play, the Zags have trailed for 30:31.
• During WCC play this season, GU has been behind for only 15:47 of the 440 minutes.
• In the last 280 minutes at home, Gonzaga has trailed for 18:42.
• Pacific led for 4:58 in WCC play, but Southern Utah had the lead for the longest during this stretch at 11:54 in the first half of the GU 70-51 win on Dec. 20.
• The Zags have not trailed in four of the 11 conference games this season.

NOT A BAD DEBUT
• Lisa Fortier's first year at the helm of the Gonzaga women's basketball team is on track to be one of the best opening years for a head coach in the program's history.
• Bill Evans' 1983-84 Zag team went 21-9 and qualified for NAIA Districts.
• In 1985-86, Mike Peterson led GU to the NAIA Districts and a 21-10 record.
• Fortier will be only the third head coach in the history of the program to post a winning record in their first season.

JANUARY IS A GOOD TIME FOR THE ZAGS
• Gonzaga has won 20 straight games in the month of January, dating back to a 54-51 loss at Saint Mary's on Jan. 10, 2013.
• The Zags went unbeaten in January this season and last season.
• In the past 10 seasons, Gonzaga has won 68 of the last 70 games (.971) in January, with both losses coming to SMC.
• From 2006 to 2012, GU won 44 straight games in January.

WE'RE GOING STREAKING
• Gonzaga has won 12 straight games, the ninth longest active streak in Div. I.
• The Bulldogs have won 14 consecutive West Coast Conference regular season games.
• They have won 17 straight games over WCC opponents, including WCC tournament.
• The Zags are on a seven-game home win streak.
• GU has won 29 straight home games versus WCC opponents.
• Gonzaga has won five consecutive true road games.
WHO'S IT GOING TO BE?
• Proving it's difficult to key in on only one Gonzaga player, seven different players have led the Zags in scoring in a game this season.
• Eight Bulldogs have reached double-digit scoring this season.
• Three have eclipsed the 20-point plateau in 2014-15.

HOME SWEET HOME IN WCC PLAY
• GU has won 29 straight home games versus WCC opponents dating back to a 66-63 loss to Saint Mary's on Jan. 14, 2012.
• Since 2010, the Bulldogs are 44-1 against conference opponents at home, outscoring them by an average, 78-56.
• At home against conference opponents, the Zags are 89-5 (.945) since the 2003 season.
• The five losses were to Pepperdine (‘03, ‘07), San Francisco (‘04), Portland (‘09), and St. Mary's (‘12). Four of the five losses were by six points or less.
• The Zags are working for their eighth unbeaten home WCC slate, and third straight.

ZAGS ADD UTAH STATE TRANSFER
• Gonzaga has added Makenlee Williams, a transfer from Utah State, to its roster.
• Following NCAA transfer rules, she will sit out the remainder of this season.
• Through seven games, she was leading the Aggies averaging 14.4 points per game.
• During her USU career, Williams averaged 11.1 points and 4.2 rebounds per game.
• She appeared in 60 games at Utah State, making 53 starts. Williams reached double-digit scoring 35 times, along with 20 games with more than five rebounds.

FORTIER INKS TRIO ON SIGNING DAY
• The first signing day of the Lisa Fortier era is in the books for Gonzaga University women's basketball, and it was a highly successful one.
• Zykera Rice, a 6-1 forward from Tacoma, Wash, is a three-sport athlete at Clover Park High School. Last season, she averaged 17 points and 13 rebounds per game.
• Laura Stockton, daughter of John and sister to David, will continue the family name for GU. At Gonzaga Prep in 2013-14, she averaged 13.1 points, 4.8 assists, and 2.8 steals per game.
• Zhane Templeton of Grand Prairie, Texas, was named Texas Girls Coaches Association First Team Class 5A All-State and first team All-District 7-5A.

IN THE MCCARTHEY ATHLETIC CENTER
• Since the McCarthey Athletic Center opened in 2004, Gonzaga has gone 144-17 overall.
• The Bulldogs went undefeated at 14-0 in the McCarthey Athletic Center during the 2004-05 campaign, the first season it was open; went 15-0 during the 2009-10 season and finished last season with a perfect 16-0 record.
• Six of the 17 losses have been to Pacific-12 Conference members - Stanford (twice), Arizona State, USC and Washington State (twice) - and three to West Coast Conference schools.
• Against West Coast Conference opponents, the Zags are 83-4 (.953) in the MAC.
• Gonzaga ranked 16th in the nation in attendance with a home average of 5,426 fans last season. Tennessee led the nation with an average of 11,600 fans per game.

BULLDOGS PICKED AS WCC PRESEASON FAVORITES
• Gonzaga was selected as the preseason favorite to win the West Coast Conference title when the annual coaches' poll was released.
• The Zags received seven of the nine possible first-place votes for 78 points in the poll.
• BYU was picked second, received two first-place votes and 71 points. San Diego was selected third with one first-place vote and 65 points, just ahead of Pacific's 60 points.
• The Bulldogs have reached 20 wins in eight straight seasons.

GREINACHER TABBED PRESEASON ALL-WCC
• The West Coast Conference announced its annual preseason All-Conference team and Sunny Greinacher was named to the select squad.
• The senior was named to the All-WCC postseason squad last year. The forward was named to the All-Freshman team in 2012 and earned All-WCC honorable mention in 2012-13.
• Over the 18 league games last season, Greinacher averaged 10.9 points and 4.8 rebounds, while shooting an impressive 48.7 percent (75-of-154) from the field and 75.4 percent (46-of-61) at the charity stripe.

SEVENTH LONGEST CONFERENCE TITLE STREAK
The Gonzaga University women's basketball team captured its unprecedented 10th-straight West Coast Conference regular-season title in 2013-14, finishing league with a 16-2 record. In the Bulldogs decade-long reign, they piled up an astonishing 136-12 record against conference foes. That includes three undefeated seasons. Their record is the seventh longest streak in the nation.
