Three Zags Finish in Top 20 of Anuenue Classic

KAPALUA, Hawaii—Three Gonzaga University golfers finished in the top 20 of the Anuenue Spring Break Classic Wednesday as the GU women's golf team closed out the tournament with its best round of the three-day competition held on The Bay Course of Kapalua Resort in Kapalua, Hawaii.

Senior Han Wu and sophomore Ciera Min both tied for ninth with a three-day total of 219, three strokes above par. Wu shot even-par 72 during Wednesday's final round, tallying three birdies on the front nine and one on the back. The round moved her five spots up the leaderboard from a tie for 14th into the top 10. Min, meanwhile, held her spot after shooting 73 (+1) during the final round. The Hilo, Hawaii, native earned her third top-10 finish of the season, tying Raychelle Santos for the team lead.

Joining Wu and Min in the tournament's top 20 is Alice Kim, who tied for 17th, just one shot back of her teammates at 220 (+4). Kim shot her lowest round of the tournament, 1-under-par 71, to reach her second consecutive and fourth overall top 20. Kim's climb up the leaderboard marked the first time all season Gonzaga had three players finish among the top 20 of a tournament.

Next up for Gonzaga, Dania Uy shook off a rough second round to fire a 2-over-par 74 during Wednesday's final round. The freshman finished in a tie for 45th with a cumulative score of 231 strokes, 15 shots above par.

Rounding out the Bulldogs' lineup, Santos also posted her best round of the tournament, shooting a 7-over-par 79. She finished in 84th with a three-day total of 255 (+39).

As a team, the Zags moved into seventh place during the final day of competition, counting a team-best 290 (+2). They closed the tournament with 889 strokes (+25), besting West Coast Conference foe Santa Clara by 23 shots. UC Davis won the tournament at 1-under-par 863, and the Aggies' Andrea Wong took medalist honors with a 7-under-par 209.

"I am really happy with today, and overall we had a good tournament," said Gonzaga women's golf head coach Brad Rickel. "If we don't take the 81 in the second round, then we had a really good event. Han Ciera, and Alice are playing very solidly and I am proud of how they are going about their business. Additionally, Raychelle played the final 10 holes at one under par and started to find her game again."

With the end of the Anuenue Spring Break Classic, Gonzaga has concluded its regular season tournaments. The Bulldogs will next compete for the WCC title April 13-15 at the conference tournament, held at Saticoy Country Club in Somis, Calif.
