SPOKANE, Wash. -- The Gonzaga women's soccer team earned a 2-2 draw with No. 25 Washington at Luger Field Sunday. All four goals came within a 23-minute span in the second half.

The Zags (1-4-4) tied a nationally-ranked opponent for the third time in program history (73 contests). That marks two straight seasons that the Bulldogs have tied a ranked team. Last year GU played to a 1-1 draw with No. 11 Pepperdine in Spokane.

Gonzaga took advantage of its opportunities against the Huskies. Washington had a 27-11 lead in shots, including a 13-6 edge in shots on goal. The Huskies also took 10 corner kicks to GU's two. But, the Zags' defense held tough through the UW onslaught.

"I was very proud of our group's defensive effort against a very talented attacking team," Gonzaga Head Coach Amy Edwards said. "Their diligence to details and especially their support of each other was fantastic."

Christie Tombari had a historic day in the GU net. In the first half, the redshirt junior moved into the program's top five in career total saves. She finished the match with a season-high 11 saves. The most since she made 13 at Santa Clara in 2013. It was also the second-highest output in the West Coast Conference so far this season.

Aliyah Miller also had a big day for the Bulldogs. The junior had her second career goal and second career assist. She kicked in a deflected shot in the 49th minute, before hitting Karley Baggerly with a through ball two minutes later.

Miller's goal opened the scoring. A GU shot was blocked by a Washington defender and Miller drove in the loose ball just outside the six-yard box. In the 51st minute, Miller slid a nice pass into the 18-yard box and Baggerly shot it to the far-post for the second goal.

Baggerly matched her season-high with four shots on goal. She took a team-high five shots in the game. Miller and Sydney Anderson both took two shots.

The Huskies (7-1-1) had their seven-game win streak come to an end with the draw. They evened the score with a pair of goals from Kimberly Keever. The sophomore's second and third goals of the season came just 35 seconds apart in the 72nd minute.

The Zags held off several UW chances in the final minutes of regulation and the 20 minutes of overtime. The Huskies had an 18-6 shot advantage after halftime. Keever and Kelcie Hedge combined for 16 shots in the game, with eight going on frame. Megan Kufeld finished with four saves in the Washington net.

"I thought we executed the game plan today for the entire match," Edwards said. "Our record is deceiving. I believe we found ourselves today!"

Gonzaga closes its non-conference schedule at Memphis Saturday. The Tigers (4-2-1) have won all three of their home games so far this season. The first-ever meeting between the Zags and Memphis is scheduled for 3 p.m. Pacific Time. Live coverage will be available on GoZags.com.
