ABOUT THE EVENT:
- The eighth annual Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate presented by Cleveland Golf, will be played at the Classic Club, a Troon Golf property, in Palm Desert, Calif.
- The Classic Club was the host site of the PGA's Bob Hope Chrysler Classic in 2006, 2007 and 2008.
- The event will be played over a three-day period for the fourth time in history starting Friday.
- All three days will consist of 18 holes that will begin at 7 a.m. PT.
- This year's field includes: Wyoming, Gonzaga, Kansas, Denver, Cal Poly, Southern Illinois, Nebraska, UT-Arlington, TCU, Idaho, Oral Roberts, CSU-Northridge, Texas Tech, Southern Utah, Old Dominion, South Dakota State, UC-Riverside, Arkansas-Little Rock, Colorado, UC-Irvine.
- Texas Christian won last year's team title with a total of 855 (-9) after the three rounds, second was Texas Tech at 856 (-8) and in third was Denver at 857 (-7).
- Texas Tech's Clement Sordet won the individual title with a final score of 205 (-11).
ABOUT THE COURSE:
- The Classic Club is a nationally recognized championship course designed by Arnold Palmer and a host site of the 2006, 2007, and 2008 Bob Hope Chrysler Classic, creates a new spin on desert golf with rolling terrain, wide landing areas, 30 acres of water features, 14 bridges as well as an abundance of pine trees, pine straw ground cover with 5 sets of tees on each hole.
ZAGS MENTIONED IN GOLFWEEK:
- The Gonzaga men were tabbed the Sleeper Team of the West Coast Conference by Golfweek Sunday.
- Sean Walsh was tabbed to the magazine's Midseason All-WCC team.
- Pepperdine was selected as the conference favorite, with Saint Mary's as a possible challenger.
READY FOR THE SPRING:
- The Gonzaga men opened their spring schedule at the Prestige at PGA West Monday.
- The Zags will play in five tournaments before the West Coast Conference Championships on April 18-20.
- GU is coming off of a stellar fall slate which featured four events.
- The Bulldogs' spring schedule has three tournaments in California and two in Oregon.
WALSH IS NATIONAL RANKED:
- Sean Walsh finished the fall ranked 40th in the country in the Golfstat Head-to-Head Player Standings.
- The lone senior on the Zags' roster is rated 65th on the Golfweek/Sagarin national rankings.
- He became the first Gonzaga men's golfer to win an individual tournament title in eight years at the Saint Mary's Invitational.
ZAGS SIGN DUO FOR 2016:
- Gonzaga men's golf head coach Robert Gray announced the signing of Chris Mogg and Nick Nolan for the 2016-17 season.
- Mogg has enjoyed a standout career at Skyline High School in Sammamish, Wash. He is excelling in the classroom with a 3.30 cumulative GPA. Mogg won the 2015 AJGA Ryan Moore tournament at Oakbrook with rounds of 68, 70, and 69.
- Nolan will be a freshman at Gonzaga in 2016-17 after a great career at Bellingham High School. He boasts a 3.9 GPA and is a member of the school's honor roll. Nolan placed second at the 2015 WIAA High School state championship in Liberty Lake, carding a course record 64 in the second round.
