SPOKANE, Wash.--San Diego's Malina Hood knocked down a game-winning three-pointer with 27 seconds left, stealing a 58-57 win at Gonzaga Thursday.

With the victory, the Toreros (22-6, 12-5 West Coast Conference) moved into a tie for third-place in the conference standings with one game left in the regular season. After being held to only six third quarter points, San Diego scored 12 points in the final four minutes to escape with the win.

The third-leading scorer in the conference, Hood finished with a game-high 20 points on 7-of-19 shooting from the field, including 3-of-4 from behind-the-perimeter. Maya Hood and Cori Woodward both added 11 points for the Toreros. Maya Hood grabbed a game-high nine rebounds, while Woodward dished out a game-high five assists.

Gonzaga went into halftime trailing, 32-29, but held San Diego scoreless for nearly five minutes during the middle of the third quarter, and took a 41-38 lead into the fourth period. GU limited the Toreros to 9-of-27 (33 percent) from the field in the second half, including 2-of-15 in the third quarter.

The Bulldogs led for the majority of the final quarter, but the Toreros made their last three shots, all from behind-the-arc. After Woodward hit a three to cut the lead to one with 3:41 left in regulation, Malina Hood hit back-to-back shots from three-point range, including the game-winner. The Zags' final possession fell short and USD was able to run the clock out. In all, the score was tied nine times and the lead changed hands twice.

Gonzaga's Georgia Stirton scored eight of her 11 points in the fourth quarter. Jill Barta also finished with 11 points. Shelby Cheslek pulled down a team-high eight rebounds.

The Zags shot 45.7 percent from the floor, bettering USD's mark of 35.6 percent. Both teams made 21 shots from the field, but GU took just 46 shots, its second-lowest output of the season. Both teams collected 33 rebounds. The Toreros turned 17 offensive rebounds into a 17-10 advantage in second-chance points.

San Diego made nine of its 17 three-point attempts, while GU was 4-of-11. USD was also 7-for-8 from the free-throw line. The Bulldogs were 11-of-17.

The Bulldogs conclude the regular season at home Saturday at 2 p.m. against No. 22 BYU. In the first meeting this season, the Cougars (24-4, 16-1) rallied for a 58-54 win over the Zags at home on Jan. 14. BYU eased to its 16th straight win at Portland Thursday, 84-59. Saturday's game is sold out, but will broadcast locally on SWX.
