March 9, 2016 Complete Poll
SPOKANE, Wash. - Gonzaga's women's rowing team was ranked No. 18 by the College Rowing Coaches Association/US Rowing Coaches Poll released today.
"We are honored to be considered among the top 20 teams in the country, but we also know that to continue to earn that ranking and the consideration from the coaches, we'll have to perform consistently and go fast in each race this spring against touch competition," head coach Glenn Putyrae said.
The No. 18 ranking is Gonzaga highest to ever start a season. Last season entered the year unranked but a strong campaign pushed them into the top 20 where they finished 17th in the final poll.
The squad returns WCC Rower of the Year Kara Soucek, WCC Coxswain of the Year Karly Dougherty, WCC Newcomer of the Year Isabelle Belzil and All-WCC selections Brooklyn Beeler, Maddie Turbes and Devyn Bell.
Gonzaga will compete next on March 12 in its spring break race in Sacramento, Calif.
