ABOUT THE SILVERADO SHOWDOWN:

  • The Zags make their first appearance in the third-year event, which takes place on the North Course of the Silverado Resort. This is Gonzaga's second trip to Northern California during the spring season after playing at the Bay Area Intercollegiate in Fairfax March 8-9. They'll play in the Bay Area once more when they compete for the WCC Championship in Danville, Calif., April 18-20.
  • The Zags face tough competition at the Silverado Showdown as half of the 18-team field is ranked in the top 50. Six more, including Gonzaga themselves, are ranked between 51 and 76, and just one of the squads lies outside of GolfStat's top 100 teams. GU is facing some frequent competition as they're playing against Pepperdine for the fifth time this year, San Diego State for the fourth time, and seven other schools for the third time.

LAST TIME OUT:

  • The Zags last competed in the Hawaiian Islands two weeks ago, taking part in the Dr. Donnis Thompson Invitational. They took eighth at the event, counting 906 strokes (+42) during the three-round tournament. It was their sixth time at the Dr. Donnis Thompson and fifth in the last six years.
  • Sophomore Dania Uy saw her best tournament of the season, tying for 18th with a score of 222 (+6). Not only was her finish the highest of her year, she posted her lowest single-round tally of 1-under 71 during the first round. Junior Ciera Min saw her highest finish of the spring, tying for 24th, while freshman Bianca Pagdanganan climbed 17 spots up the leaderboard during the final day with a third-round 71.

TOP OF THE TENS:

  • Pagdanganan leads the team with three Top-10 finishes this year; she won the Edean Ihlanfeldt Invitational in October, finished fourth at The Gold Rush in late February, and took fifth at the Bay Area Intercollegiate in early March. Three other Zags have finished among the Top 10 once this year: Min and Jena Gao finished fifth and tied for sixth, respectively, at October's Pat Lesser Harbottle Invitational, and Raychelle Santos tied for eighth at the Bay Area Intercollegiate.
  • With that eighth-place in the Bay Area, Santos picked up her 17th career Top 10 finish. The senior passed Alice Kim for second-most all-time and is one behind program leader and current assistant coach Victoria Fallgren. Min, a junior, has 10 finishes in the Top 10.

ONE LAST TUNEUP:

  • The Silverado Showdown is the Bulldogs' final regular season tournament and their last tune-up before competing for the WCC title April 18-20 at Black Hawk CC in Danville, Calif. The Zags will face WCC foes Pepperdine and San Francisco in Napa; it's the fifth time they've competed against the Waves and third time they've seen the Dons in action. They've also played against WCC foe BYU twice this season but have yet to see Santa Clara in a tournament.
