April 27, 2016 Complete WCC All-Academic Team
SAN BRUNO, Calif.--Two players from Gonzaga's women's golf team earned academic honors from the West Coast Conference Wednesday as Ciera Min was named WCC All-Academic while Raychelle Santos received All-Academic Honorable Mention.
This is Min's second consecutive WCC All-Academic award after also receiving the honor in 2015. A junior, Min has a 3.35 GPA as a psychology major. On the course, she won the WCC Championships April 18-20, shooting a program-record 6-under-par 66 on the final day for the league title. Min also finished fifth at the Pat Lesser Harbottle Invitational in October and saw two other Top 25 finishes on the year. A native of Hilo, Hawaii, Min finished second on the team with a 74.38 stroke average.
Santos, meanwhile, picked up her first career conference academic award. The senior has a 3.23 GPA and will graduate with a degree in sport management next month. She played every round during the regular season and tied for eighth at the Bay Area Intercollegiate, her 17th career Top 10 finish. She ended her career with the second-most Top 10 finishes in program history and held a stroke average of 75.59 through the first six events of the season.
The WCC announces an All-Academic team for each sport at the conclusion of that sport's season. In order to be considered for the honor, student-athletes must hold a 3.20 GPA or higher, have attended their institution for a whole academic year, and be a significant contributor to her team. The entire list of WCC All-Academic honorees may be found below.
As a team, the Zags' season is done, but freshman Bianca Pagdanganan will compete as an individual in the NCAA Regional at Bryan, Texas. The tournament will take place May 5-7 at the Traditions Club.
