Scott Kim Joins Men's Golf Coaching Staff

Aug. 23, 2016

SPOKANE, Wash. - Gonzaga men's golf head coach Robert Gray announced the hiring of Scott Kim as the program's assistant coach.

"I'm incredibly excited and thankful to Coach Gray for this opportunity to be the Assistant Coach for Men's Golf at Gonzaga University," Kim said. "It's great to be involved in competitive golf again and I'm looking forward to developing a relationship with the team while building on the recent success of the program."

Kim joins the Zags after finishing a stellar collegiate career at Oregon State in 2015.

"This is a huge benefit to the growth of the program," Gray said. "In addition to helping us with all aspects of coaching, Scott is a great person and he'll bring a fun energy to the team. With his playing experience, having him on the road with us during competitions will be very beneficial for the players in helping them with all the facets of tournament golf. At home, we'll be able to give each individual more one on one time to help them reach their full potential, both as players and human beings."

A standout on and off of the course, Kim excelled in the classroom. He graduated cum laude from OSU with a Bachelor of Science in Accountancy and Finance in 2015.

Kim was named a Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-American Scholar in 2014. He was also selected to the Pac-12 All-Academic First Team following his junior and senior seasons, after being tabbed second team in 2013.

On the course, Kim played in eight tournaments during his senior season and had a scoring average of 74.38. The Richland, Wash. native, completed his four-year Oregon State career with a scoring average of 74.59 in 83 rounds.

The Gonzaga men's golf team begins their 2016-17 schedule at the Itani Quality Homes Collegiate in Pullman on Sept. 12.
