SAN BRUNO, Calif.-Five Bulldogs earned West Coast Conference All-Academic honors Wednesday, headlined by Jenna Kuehn's WCC All-Academic Team accolades.

Kuehn, a sophomore from Eugene, Ore., has maintained a 3.64 GPA as a nursing major. On the court, she did it all this year for the Zags, finishing with 462 assists, 258 digs, and 162 kills. The opposite hitter/setter tallied Gonzaga's first three triple-doubles of the rally-scoring era, the first of which came Sept. 21 against Saint Mary's. In all, she notched 14 double-doubles, the most on the squad, and was one of two Bulldogs to play in every set. A nursing major, Kuehn also has a 3.64 grade point average.

Four more Bulldogs earned All-Academic Honorable Mention honors: Tiyana Hallums, Payton Mack, Faith Smith, and Marit Thorkildsen. Hallums has a 3.38 GPA as a kinesiology and physical education major. The junior from Honolulu, Hawaii, also played every single frame this season, ending with 393 digs, a career high. On Oct. 21, she became the first Zag in five years to dig up at least 30 attacks in a match, adding 31 digs in a win at Portland.

Mack is majoring in human physiology and currently touts a 3.64 GPA. This is her second postseason honor after earning All-WCC Honorable Mention Nov. 27. The sophomore from Fremont, Calif., started 21 matches at middle blocker in 2017, including all 18 WCC contests. Against conference foes, she led the team with 68 total blocks, 0.93 a set. She added 1.75 kills a frame and hit .287 during the conference slate, just a few percentage points away from the team lead. Mack set single-match career highs in kills, attack percentage, and blocks in WCC play as well.

Smith picked up All-Academic Honorable Mention after keeping a 3.34 GPA as a physical education major. The junior from San Diego, Calif., started 28 of 30 matches at setter and dished out a personal-best 5.84 assists per set and also added 277 total digs, another career high. She finished second on the team with 11 double-doubles and also set single-match highs of 18 digs twice and 57 assists versus Portland Nov. 20. Smith is a physical education major with a 3.34 GPA.

Thorkildsen has a 3.75 GPA while majoring in sport management. The Lynnwood, Wash., native also proved to be a strong defender, adding 2.65 digs per set and sporting the libero jersey for much of the non-conference season. The junior co-captain was one of four Zags with over 200 digs on the year, finishing at 209, and she set a school record Sept. 9 with 24 digs in a three-set match at Grand Canyon.

In order to be considered for the WCC's All-Academic team, a student-athlete must maintain at least a 3.20 cumulative GPA while also being a significant contributor to her team.
