SPOKANE, Wash. – Sophia Viviano scored two goals and Samantha Heilman recorded two assists to help lead the Gonzaga women's soccer team to a 4-3 win over Loyola Marymount Sunday.
 
It was the Zags' (9-4-4, 4-2-2 West Coast Conference) first win over LMU since 2013, and snapped the Lions' four-game win streak in the series. With the victory, GU remained unbeaten at Luger Field this season (5-0-1), and is unbeaten in nine of its last 11 contests.
 
In a match that featured seven goals and 27 shots, it was Gonzaga that came out victorious. Both teams placed seven shots on goal. The Zags took five corner kicks to Loyola Marymount's two.
 
After not scoring over the previous 220 minutes, the Bulldogs' broke through just four minutes into the match. Viviano volleyed in a cross from Heilman to open the scoring. India Jencks was also credited with an assist.
 
The Lions' (3-12-4, 1-6-1 WCC) Ali King found the net on a similar goal in the 13^th minute. She kicked in a cross in the box, with an assist from Simone Handy. Maki Kono put LMU ahead in the 36^th minute with a penalty kick.
 
After being outshot in the first half, 5-4, Gonzaga had an 11-7 edge in shots in the second half. Maggie Conners scored the equalizer for the Bulldogs in the 53^rd minute. The sophomore kicked in Alaysia Lane's shot that hit the crossbar. Less than five minutes later, McKenna Ferrera scored her second career goal. The senior struck a ball from deep outside the box that deflected off of a defender and into the corner of the net.
 
Loyola Marymount's Sarina Bolden scored her sixth goal of the season in the 77^th minute to tie the game again. She headed in a pass from Shelby Cormier.
 
Just over a minute later, Viviano scored the game-winner. Her 11^th career goal, and third of the season, was a strike from the top of the box with assists from Heilman and Jodi Ulkekul. It was Heilman's seventh assist of the season, which matches the single season program record.
 
Gonzaga's three second half goals were the most in a half since scoring four in a 6-2 win over San Francisco last season in Spokane on Oct. 6.
 
Isabel Jones made four saves for the Bulldogs, while Charlee Pruitt had three for LMU.
 
The Zags wrap up the regular season against Portland on Nov. 3. The Pilots (11-8-0, 4-4-0) fell at home to No. 25 Pepperdine, 2-0, Sunday. Prior to the match against Portland, GU will honor its seniors, who will be playing their final games for the Bulldogs. Start time on Nov. 3, is scheduled for 7 p.m.
