SPOKANE, Wash. – The Gonzaga women's tennis team signed four players to National Letters of Intent as announced by head women's tennis coach
D.J. Gurule Tuesday.
Catherine Broerman
Scottsdale, Ariz. | Horizon High School
Broerman will arrive at Gonzaga following a stellar career at Horizon High School in Scottsdale, Ariz. Listed as a four-star recruit on tennisrecruiting.net, she won the 2018 National Team Championships with two singles and three doubles wins. She was also the ITA Copa Mangu Singles and ITF Cayman Cup Doubles champion. Broerman also won multiple national events, most recently at the Level 3 in Chandler, Ariz., and the Level 3 in Memphis, Tenn., both at Level 3.
Broerman is ranked in the top 100 nationally as a recruit and claims the No. 3 spot overall in the state of Arizona. Currently, she boasts a 15-7 overall record against other four-star recruits.
Catherine on why she chose Gonzaga: "I am so happy with my decision to continue my tennis career at Gonzaga. I felt right at home when I got to campus; it is a place where I will thrive on the court and in the classroom. I also love the support not only from the coaches and teammates, but the people behind the scenes and within the community as well."
Coach Gurule on Broerman: "Cate is going to bring a lot of firepower to the team. I am so impressed with her continued improvement; every time we saw her compete she was better than before. It is that type of dedication that is going to make her so valuable to the team. I am confident that Cate is going to do a lot of great things for the Zags!"
Jenna Sloan
Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif. | Palos Verdes High School
Sloan is a four-star recruit from Palos Verdes High School in Palos Verdes, Calif. She led the Palos Verdes to a 2016 CIFSS Championship, and she was the 2016 Daily Breeze Player of the Year, Bay League champion and quarterfinalist at the CIFSS individual championships. In 2017,
Sloan was the Girls 18s National Level 2 gold medalist in Grand Rapids, Mich., and was the Girls 18s National Level 2 gold medalist at Dartmouth.
Sloan earned her highest ranking ever in the spring of 2018, coming in at No. 64 for the class of 2019 and was classified as a five-star recruit her junior season. She also earned her best-ever doubles ranking at 30
th in the nation and fourth overall in Southern California, and she achieved a No. 10 singles ranking in Southern California.
Sloan on why she chose Gonzaga: "When I first visited Gonzaga, I was immediately drawn to the competitive atmosphere and welcoming community. The girls are so dedicated, and the coaches inspire one to not only become a better player, but become a better person. In addition, Gonzaga has state-of-the-art facilities and amazing academic programs".
Coach Gurule on Sloan: "We are really looking forward for Jenna to join the Zags next year. Jenna is a perfect fit for the Zags. I know that her work ethic and commitment to development will be a huge asset for the team. She is a ferocious competitor, and we know she will compete every time she steps on the court."
JennaMarie Gordon
Saratoga, Calif. | Laurel Springs High School
JennaMarie Gordon, a five-star recruit out of Saratoga, Calif., signed her national letter of intent to join the Gonzaga program. Gordon was the 2018 Laguna Creek National Level 4 tournament champion, and she took second in both singles and doubles play at the Mt. Rushmore Junior National Level 3 tournament and Level 4 Stockton tournament. She also posted five wins at the Winter Nationals. Thus far in her high school career, she has been ranked as high as 44
th on tennisrecruiting.net as well as 87
th nationally, and currently ranks 91
st in Girls 18s.
Gordon on why she chose Gonzaga: "Gonzaga is one of a very few smaller universities with big athletic programs, which was what drew me to the school at first. I loved the sense of community that I felt amongst all of the students, athletes, and faculty on campus. The intimate classroom setting was also something that really stood out to me about Gonzaga. Coach D.J. and Coach Bre are clearly very passionate and experienced in developing players both on and off the court, and I am beyond excited to have the opportunity to train with them. I feel that I will be well supported to grow in all aspects of my life as a student-athlete at Gonzaga, and I am looking forward to reaching new heights together as Zags!"

Tamara Anderson
New Zealand
Anderson, a New Zealand native, will join the Gonzaga program in the spring of 2019. Anderson represented the New Zealand Junior Fed Cup team as the No. 2 player, helping the squad to qualify for the World Event held in Hungary. She also was the No. 2 player representing the Cook Islands at the Pacific Nations Cup, helping the team finish fourth overall in 2018. Anderson also won the singles championship as the No. 1 player at the Oceania Championships, once again representing the Cook Islands. She has twice won the New Zealand Singles Championship, once in 2015 and again in 2016.
Anderson on why she chose Gonzaga: "I chose Gonzaga University because I love the whole atmosphere there, and I love Gonzaga's mission for every individual that enters their institution to grow as a student, as an athlete, and more importantly, as a person. That's how I knew that this was the place for me!"
Coach Gurule on Anderson: "We cannot be more excited about Tamara coming to our team this spring. She is the pure definition of a Zag. I think we all had a great feeling about her when she visited campus. She will fit in perfectly with the current team and her contributions will be felt immediately."
