SAN BRUNO, Wash. — Gonzaga men's soccer's
Austin Giftopoulos and
Jake Kempf were named to the West Coast Conference All-Academic Team in addition to five more Zags on the Honorable Mention, league officials announced Wednesday.
Giftopoulos is being honored for the third time after earning honorable mention accolades each of the last two seasons. With a 3.94 grade-point average as he works toward a Master of Business Administration degree, Giftopoulos played in all 18 games as a defender for the Zags. He helped the team to two shutouts and scored two goals on the year to rank second on the team.
Kempf, a forward, is honored for the second time with one honorable mention award in 2016. He has a 3.88 GPA also as a Master of Business Administration candidate, while tying for second on the team with a pair of goals.

Ben Willis,
Brady Henderson,
Nathaniel Tolton and
Garrett Wilson each were named this year's WCC All-Academic Honorable Mention. Willis earned his third straight honor, while Henderson and Tolton were each honored for the second time.
At the conclusion of each athletic season, the WCC selects an all-academic squad for each WCC-sponsored sport. To be considered, a student-athlete must maintain at least a 3.20 cumulative grade point average while also being a significant contributor to his team.
