Series Notes: Gonzaga and Stanford meet for the 10th time in program history. The two programs first met during the 2000-10 season and have faced each other every season since except for a brief hiatus during the 2014-15 season. The Bulldogs' lone win came on Nov. 18, 2016 with a 68-63 win in Stanford, Calif. Current Zag Laura Stockton had 12 points, four assists and two steals in the win, including a steal and two free throws with 14 seconds remaining to seal the win. It marked only the eighth time the Cardinal had lost at home since 2007.
- In their last meeting, Gonzaga fell 82-68 to Stanford in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. Stanford, the No. 4 seed, dominated the glass 42-27 and outscored the Zags 38-20 inside to advance to the second round. Jill Barta led all scorers with 21 points while Stockton finished with 14 points and four assists and Jessie Loera added 12 points.
- The Bulldogs have averaged 60.3 points per game through the first nine meetings while giving up an average of 77.8 points per contest.
- This will be the first of two Pac-12 opponents for the Zags this season as the Bulldogs face Washington State Dec. 9.
 
SCOUTING STANFORD:
- Stanford was picked to finish second in the Pac-12 behind No. 3/3 Oregon with 107 points and one first-place vote. Stanford senior Alanna Smith earned preseason All-Pac-12 honors as she was the only Cardinal selected to the five-player team voted on by the media. An All-Pac-12 performer in 2017-18, Smith is Stanford's leading returning scorer and rebounder. She started all 35 games as a junior and averaged 13.5 points, 7.0 rebounds and 1.77 blocks in 28.4 minutes.
- Through six games, Stanford averages 87.0 points per game to rank 11th in the nation while giving up an average of 58.2 points per contest. The Cardinal add 42.0 rebounds, 19.7 assists and 9.3 steals per game while averaging 13.7 turnovers. Stanford's 19.7 assists per game rank tied for 12 in the nation.
- Stanford broke the 100-point barrier once this season with a 115-71 rout over Idaho on Nov. 11. The Cardinal have won by an average of +28.8 points per game, good for 11th in the nation.
- Four players average double-figures for the Cardinal, led by Smith with 19.0 points per game. Kiana Williams adds 14.9, Nadi Fingall 11.0 and Spokane native Lexie Hull adds 10.7. Hull has been out with an injury the last three games.
- Four players average at least 5.0 rebounds per game. led by Hull with 7.0 per contest. Smith adds 6.0, Fingall 5.7 while DiJonai Carrington adds 5.2 rebounds per game.
 
ZYKERA CONTROLLING THE PAINT
Zykera Rice has been a force for the Zags inside, averaging a team-best 8.4 rebounds per game while leading the Zags with 12.1 points per game. Currently, she ranks fourth in the WCC in rebounds per contest, and she's 18th in the league in scoring. Rice's dominance inside has helped the Zags post a 254-210 points in the paint advantage through eight games.
 
CAMPBELL WITH THE HOT HAND
Katie Campbell is currently shooting 50 percent from long range to lead the Zags. Her average has more than doubled from last season as she finished 12-for-50 from long range to shoot 24 percent in 2017-18. Campbell's 50 percent ranks fourth in the West Coast Conference and 29th in the nation. She also ranks 15th in the WCC in field goal percentage at 47.0.
 
JENN WIRTH RETURNS
After sitting out the first seven games with a broken finger sustained during the preseason, Jenn Wirth returned to the lineup Wednesday against Colorado State. The sophomore finished with two points and four rebounds in 12 minutes of play.
