Ferrera tabbed honorable mention; Archuleta named to All-Freshman Team
SAN BRUNO, Calif. – Gonzaga women's soccer student-athletes Ariana Pumpelly and India Jencks were named Second Team All-West Coast Conference Tuesday. McKenna Ferrera was tabbed honorable mention and Haley Archuleta was named to the league's All-Freshman Team.
It's the first time since 2005 that multiple Zags were named either first team or second team by the West Coast Conference. Jencks was named honorable mention last season as a sophomore.
For the second straight season, Jencks led the team in goals with six in 2018, which ranked eighth in the WCC. She also had a team-high 15 points this season, adding three assists. Her 15 career goals rank seventh in program history, and her 35 career points is ninth.
Pumpelly has been a centerpiece in a defense that allowed only 18 goals this season, which ranked second in the West Coast Conference. Gonzaga was third in the league with seven shutouts in 2018. Pumpelly started in 52 of her 69 career appearances in a Gonzaga uniform. The Tualatin, Ore., native played a team-high 1,704 minutes this season.
Ferrera also wrapped a stellar four-year career at GU. She logged over 3,700 minutes in 60 matches in Zag uniform. The Kirkland, Wash., native scored her first collegiate goals this season, finishing with two and adding an assist.
Archuleta was among the up-and-coming standouts in the conference. In her first collegiate season, she made four starts and was solid in the GU defense.
