Maricopa, Ariz. | GOLFSTAT | 7:30 am PST Shotgun Start

THE TOURNAMENT:
- Gonzaga is playing the Cowgirl Classic for the fourth time in program history and first since 2010.
- The field features 20 teams, including San Francisco and Santa Clara from the West Coast Conference.
- UC Irvine won the team title last season at +10 and Kaitlan Collom of Nevada won at three-under par.
- The teams will play 36 holes on Monday and 18 holes on Tuesday with 7:30 am PST shotgun starts.
- The best finish for GU in the event came in 2009 when they finished fourth, jumping from sixth after the first day. Sage Suffecool and Jessica Howe finished 11th that year at +15, the best individual finishes for GU. Suffecool was in third place after her first two rounds that year.
- Most recently, in 2010, the Zags took ninth at +57 and Jessica Howe and Rachel Sibbitt finished 19th at +11.
- Sculpted by the architects of Schmidt-Curley Design, Inc., with the help of golf legend Fred Couples, Ak-Chin Southern Dunes' creative routing, native grasses and rugged, unbridled landforms pay tribute to the game's great links-land courses.

GAINING MOMENTUM:
- GU moved up a spot to third on the final day at the Pinehurst Women's Intercollegiate at Pinehurst #8, shooting a 313 to finish +114, just five strokes out of second.
- Jessica Mangrobang finished in a tie for third, her best career finish at +24.
- The Zags shot a 294 on the second day to tie Eastern Washington at +40 in the recent dual.
- Nina Novilla shot a pair of 72s, her season-low round, and tied for the win in the event finishing at +4, the best finish of her career.
- Jessica Mangrobang was right behind her in third at +8, her second-straight third-place finish. Diana Araneta fired a second-round 72, her career-low round.

PHX HISTORY:
- The Zags have played two other tournaments in the Phoenix area, the 2005 and 2007 Bobcat Desert Classic at Palm Valley Golf Club. The Bulldogs took fourth in 2007 with Mary Kate Morgan winning the event at +9.
- Lacey Jo Manwaring was 23rd in 2005 and sixth in 2007 at +11.

"We have been playing some of our best golf of the year over the last two events," Gonzaga head coach Brad Rickel said. "Everyone is working hard and excited to play again."
