NORMAN, Okla. – The Gonzaga women's soccer team drew even with Oklahoma, 1-1, in the Zags' first road game of the season Sunday. It was the first matchup between the programs.
After a scoreless first half,
Maggie Conners found the back of the net for GU in the 80
th minute. The sophomore scored her fourth collegiate goal, and first of the season, on a shot to the far post over the Oklahoma keeper.
India Jencks was credited with the assist.
With less than two minutes left in regulation, the Sooners (1-2-1) scored the equalizer. Ivanna Rivas recorded her second goal of the season off of an assist from Kristina O'Donnell.
The Bulldogs (1-0-1) outshot Oklahoma, 18-14. Gonzaga had nine shots on goal, while the Sooners had eight. The Zags took five corner kicks and OU finished with four.
Isabel Jones made seven saves for Gonzaga. Oklahoma's McKinley Crone finished with eight saves.
The Bulldogs travel to Oregon State Friday. The Beavers (0-4-0) fell at Nebraska Sunday, 3-0. Friday's match is scheduled for 8 p.m.
