SPOKANE, Wash. – The Gonzaga Bulldogs hosted a nationally ranked team for the second-consecutive game on Friday afternoon at Luger Field, as they fell to No. 17 UC Davis 3-0.
The game was close early, with GU controlling a lot of possession, but UC Davis broke through in the 19th minute with a completed chip shot. The teams went to half at that score but the Aggies scored again four minutes into the second half as a cross found the open left side of the net. Gonzaga pushed the pace from there and a four-on-one counter attack in the 87th minute made the final 3-0 for UC Davis.
The Zags registered four shots on goal and nine total, and Ben Willis made seven saves in goal for GU, with a couple very impressive breakups. Demitrius Kigeya was on the attack all day for GU, taking four shots and two on goal.
The Bulldogs have one game left in this four-game home stand, as they host CSU Bakersfield on Sunday night at 7 pm. Live links are available at GoZags.com
