No. 5/6 Gonzaga takes 24-game conference road win streak to USF

THE TIP-OFF:
- Gonzaga and San Francisco meet for the 81st time on Saturday in San Francisco, at 7 p.m. GU has a 58-22 advantage in the series.
- The Zags have won 14 straight versus the Dons. USF's last win in the series came on Feb 18, 2012, 66-65, at San Francisco. Gonzaga is 21-18 all-time at San Francisco.
- GU is 37-4 against San Francisco under Mark Few.
- Gonzaga is coming off a 67-36 win at home over Pacific Thursday. The Zags scored a season-low 67 points, but Pacific's 36 points were also a season-low for a GU opponent. Josh Perkins scored 14 points.
- Brandon Clarke is third in field goal percentage (69.3), third with 57 blocks and third averaging 3.35 blocks. Josh Perkins is fifth in the country with 117 assists and is eighth averaging 6.88 assists per game.
- The Zags are first in the nation in field goal percentage (52.7 percent), second in scoring offense (92.0), second in scoring margin (24.4), third with 318 total assists and third with 316 made free throws.

- GU is 21-18 all-time at San Francisco. The Bulldogs are 6-3 in the last nine meetings at USF. Four of the last 12 games at San Francisco have gone to overtime, including a 102-94 Gonzaga win in 2016.
- Gonzaga has won 29 in-a-row in Spokane in the series, including all 14 in the McCarthey Athletic Center.
- The Bulldogs are 33-2 against USF in Spokane all-time. The Dons last won in Spokane on Feb. 10, 1989, 67-64.
- The Zags won last season's matchup at USF, 75-65. Johnathan Williams scored 17 points and Josh Perkins added 16. Gonzaga shot 52.8 percent from the field, while USF was 38.6 percent.
- In the latest meeting between the teams, Killian Tillie scored 26 points on 10-of-11 shooting, including connecting on all five 3-pointers, to lead Gonzaga past the Dons 88-60, in the 2018 WCC Tournament Semifinals in Las Vegas. Rui Hachimura had 17 points and Zach Norvell Jr. added 14.
- San Francisco edged GU, 64-62, in the first-ever meeting at USF on Jan. 28, 1961.
 
SCOUTING THE DONS:
- San Francisco is off to one of its best starts at program history at 14-2, including a pair of wins to open West Coast Conference play last week.
- After beating Saint Mary's at home, 76-72, USF pulled out a 72-69 victory at Pepperdine.
- In Malibu, the Dons' Frankie Ferrari hit a go-ahead three with 14 seconds left and finished with eight points and four assists. Charles Minlend scored 21 points and grabbed seven rebounds, while Jimbo Lull added 18 points for San Francisco.
- USF made 48 percent of its shots from the field, and limited Pepperdine to 35 percent, including 21 percent from three-point range.
- Minlend averages a team-high 15.4 points and Ferrari chips in 13.3 points. Ferrari is third in the WCC averaging 5.7 assists per game and tops the league in assist-to-turnover ratio.
- Matt McCarthy is averaging 10.1 points off of the bench, along with a team-best 6.9 rebounds a game.
- San Francisco leads the conference with a 7.2 rebound margin.
 
TAMING THE TIGERS
- Gonzaga held Pacific to 36 points in a 67-36 win at home. The Zags' 67 points were a season-low, but the 36 points were also a season-low by a GU opponent.
- It was the lowest scoring output by a Bulldog opponent since San Diego scored 31 at USD on Feb. 26, 2011.
- It also marked only the fourth time the Zags held an opponent under 40 points in the last decade.
- Pacific's 12 made field goals were the fewest by a Gonzaga opponent since Saint Mary's went 12-of-52 from the field on March, 1 2014.
- Gonzaga has held three of its last five opponents under 20 points in the first half. The Zags have an average advantage of 46-19 at halftime over the last five games.
 
STRIVE IN LAST FIVE
- Gonzaga has won the last five games by an average of 43 points. Over the last five games, the Zags are averaging 88.8 points and holding opponents to 45.8 points.
- GU is limiting opponents to 30.8 percent shooting from the field, while making 53.9 percent from the field on the offensive end over the last five games.
- On the defensive end in the last five games, Bulldog foes have been held to 19.3 percent (17-of-88) shooting from behind-the-arc and have been forced into 100 turnovers.
