SPOKANE, Wash. – The Gonzaga women's basketball team put on a show at the 2019 Numerica Fan Fest in the Kennel at the McCarthey Athletic Center on Saturday.
Fans were treated to special player and coaching staff introductions, a hot shot competition and a three-point shootout before an intrasquad scrimmage.
In the hot shot contest,
Jenn Wirth beat twin sister
LeeAnne Wirth for the 2019 title, while
Jessie Loera beat
Katie Campbell in the three-point contest finals.
The blue squad defeated the white team, 20-16, in the 16-minute team scrimmage.
LeeAnne Wirth led the blue squad with a team-high six points off 3-of-7 from the floor. She also grabbed a rebound. Senior transfer
Cierra Walker and
Jill Townsend each added five points apiece. The winning blue-side shot 31.8 percent from the floor and was a perfect 4-of-4 from the charity stripe.
The Zags open the 2019-20 season with an exhibition against Warner-Pacific on Nov. 2. The regular season will be against CSU Bakersfield on Nov. 10.
