Zags Look to Bounce Back Wednesday at LMU

Women’s soccer vies for 10th win of the season

QUICK KICKS:
- GU visits Loyola Marymount Wednesday at 7 p.m.
- The Zags are one win away from their third-straight 10-win season. Gonzaga had four consecutive double-digit win seasons from 2003 to 2006.
- GU has six double-digit win seasons in program history.
- Nine of GU's 13 matches this season have been decided by one goal, and the Zags are 6-3 in those games.
- Last week, the Bulldogs received a vote in the national poll. It the first time the program has appeared in the national rankings since receiving votes in 2005.
- The Bulldogs are 13th in the nation averaging 8.50 shots on goal per game, and 32nd averaging 16.5 shots per outing. GU is second in the WCC in both of those.
- The Zags are third in the conference averaging 2.29 goals per game, which also ranks 22nd in the NCAA, and 27th in the nation averaging 6.4 corners per game.
 
SCOUTING THE LIONS:
- Loyola Marymount is coming off of a 3-2 loss at San Diego last Saturday.
- The Lions outshot USD, 15-12, and led 2-1 just into the second half, but the Toreros found the game-winner in the 84th minute.
- Madison Werner and Ali King both scored their second goals of the season for LMU. Skylar Robledo and Olivia LaCasto both had assists.
- Six of the Lions' nine losses were decided by one goal.
- Amber McCorkle leads Loyola Marymount with seven points, with a team-high three goals, despite starting in only eight of her 14 appearances.
- Simone Handy has two goals and two assists. Jackie Fiacco also has two assists.
- Lee Erickson and Sadie Kenny have shared time in the LMU net. They've combined for a .629 save percentage.
 
JENCKS TIES PROGRAM RECORD:
- India Jencks was credited with her seventh assist this season in the draw with San Francisco.
- She is tied for the most assists in a single season in program history with four other Zags.
 
ONE AWAY FROM THIRTY:
- The Bulldogs are one win from giving Chris Watkins' his 30th win as a head coach at Gonzaga. He would be the fastest head coach to 30 wins in program history.
 
LOOKING AHEAD ... SANTA CLARA:
- Gonzaga hosts Santa Clara Saturday at 7 p.m.
- The Broncos own the all-time series, 23-1-2, including 12-1-1 in the matchups in Spokane.
- The Zags lone win in the series came in Spokane in 2007, 2-1. No. 7 SCU won last year's meeting, 1-0.
