SPOKANE, Wash. – Santa Clara used an early goal to pick up a 1-0 win over the Gonzaga women's soccer team at Luger Field Saturday.
The Broncos (10-5-2, 4-0-2 West Coast Conference) remained unbeaten in league play and picked up their 10
th win of the season.
In the third minute, SCU's Kelsey Turnbow found the back of the net for the 11
th time this season. She dribbled through the GU defense and struck a ball past the keeper in the box. Turnbow now has a team-high 31 points.
Gonzaga (10-5-1, 3-2-1 WCC) finished with a 11-10 edge in shots. The Zags placed seven shots on frame, while SCU had five. Both teams took six shots in the first half, with GU having a 4-3 advantage in shots on goal. The Bulldogs'
Madeline Gotta matched Turnbow's game-high five shots.
Sophie Whitehouse made seven saves in the Bronco net.
Isabel Jones and
Lyza Bosselmann shared time in the GU net, and both made a pair of saves.
Gonzaga is at Saint Mary's next Saturday at 2:30 p.m. The Gaels (7-8-1, 1-4-1) fell at Loyola Marymount Saturday, 2-0.
