MSOC Looks to Continue Winning Ways at Portland, home vs. No. 11 Saint Mary's

LAST TIME OUT
- Gonzaga picked up a pair of conference wins over the last week, including a 2-1 defeat of then-No. 18 San Diego on the road.
- After beating San Francisco 2-1 in its previous match, GU went on the road to San Diego and scored in the 67th minute to break a 1-1 tie. 
- GU's game-winning goal, scored by Demitrius Kigeya, came just 90 seconds after the Toreros had scored to tie. 
- GU has now gathered three wins and a tie in its last six matches, after starting the season winless in its first six.

WCC PLAYER OF THE WEEK
- Demitrius Kigeya was named the WCC Player of the Week for his effort in GU's lone match last week.
- In a 2-1 win at then-No. 18 San Diego, Kigeya scoring the game-winning goal in the 67th minute. 
- Kigeya has now scored in each of GU's last two matches to give him a team-leading three goals on the season. 

LUCRATIVE SOCAL TRIP
- Before a 2.5-week break from games, GU finished off an unbeaten weekend with a 2-2 tie at UC Irvine on Sept. 22. That came two days after a 2-0 win at Cal Baptist. 
- At CBU, the game went scoreless into the 84th minute when Nathaniel Tolton got his first collegiate goal. Kupa'a Fernandez followed with his first collegiate goal less than five minutes later.
- At UC Irvine, Theo O'Malley gave GU a 1-0 lead, but it took a Mark McEntosh goal in the 70th minute to tie the game.

CREATING CHANCES
- Demitrius Kigeya leads the team with nine shots on goal, while Mark McEntosh and Joe Corner each have six shots on goal.
- Kigeya leads the team with 28 shots overall, while Frankie Ljucovic has taken 17 shots, while McEntosh has 14 and Cole Rovegno and Theo O'Malley have taken 12 each.

LEADING THE OFFENSE
- Demitrius Kigeya and Theo O'Malley are tied for the team lead with three goals apiece after each scoring against San Diego. 
- Kigeya also has an assist to give him a team-high seven points on the year.
- Mark McEntosh has two goals and an assist on the year to total five points.
- Freshman Cole Rovegno has a team-high three assists on the year and a goal to total five points.

FRESHMAN OFFENSE   
- Rookie Cole Rovegno's goal against Sac State was the first of his collegiate career. 
- Freshman Kupa'a Fernandez also got on the board, sealing the Cal Baptist win with a goal in the 89th minute to make it 2-0.

KEEPER STATS
- Gonzaga's redshirt freshman goalkeeper Johan Garibay has played all 1,110:34 minutes in net for the Zags. The only other player to be on the field every minute is Isaiah Jackson
- Garibay has a goals-against average of 1.72 and has made 43 saves, including a career-high seven against Cal Poly.
- He has one shutout on the season, a 2-0 win over Cal Baptist.

PRESEASON ALL-WCC
- Gonzaga men's soccer player Demitrius Kigeya was named to the Preseason All-West Coast Conference Team, selected by the league's head coaches and announced Monday afternoon. Kigeya was named to the WCC All-Freshman team last season.
- Gonzaga was also selected to finish seventh as a team in the preseason poll, while Saint Mary's was the unanimous choice to win the league.

FACING TOUGH COMPETITION: 
- Gonzaga face four NCAA Tournament teams from last season over the course of the 16-game schedule.
- The Zags faced Washington in an exhibition, and will go to Seattle to face the Huskies in the middle of the regular season.
- GU's league slate the rest of the way then features three NCAA teams that all won their postseason opener last season in Portland (road), Saint Mary's (home) and Pacific (road).
