THE TIP OFF:
Gonzaga welcomes Arkansas-Pine Bluff on Saturday, at 5 p.m., to Spokane.
- The Zags and UAPB meet for the second time. In 2001, GU cruised to a 92-42 win over the Golden Lions at home.
- Gonzaga opened the regular season with a 95-64 victory against Alabama State.
Corey Kispert scored a career-high 28 points in the win. The Bulldogs forced 21 turnovers.
- The Zags haven now won 16 straight regular season-openers dating back to 2003.
- GU has won 31 consecutive regular season home-openers since a 73-65 loss to Boise State on Dec. 7, 1988.
- GU has won all 16 regular season home-openers in the McCarthey Athletic Center and all 21 regular season home-openers under
Mark Few.

- Gonzaga and Arkansas-Pine Bluff meet for the second time.
- On Nov. 29, 2001, the Zags cruised to a 92-42 win over the Golden Lions in Spokane.
- GU's Dan Dickau went 6-of-13 from the field with all six field goals from beyond the 3-point arc on his way to a game-high 18 points. The Bulldogs also got an 11-point, 11-rebound double-double from sophomore Cory Violette, his first career double-double. - The Zags are 3-0 all-time versus schools from the state of Arkansas, including the latest a 91-81 win over Arkansas in the 2013 Maui Invitational.
SCOUTING THE GOLDEN LIONS:
- Arkansas-Pine Bluff opened the season with a 70-41 loss at South Florida Tuesday. The Golden Lions led on several occasions in the first half, the last time coming on a 10-0 run that gave UAPB a 22-20 lead before USF went on a 17-4 run to end the half. Shaun Doss and Markedric Bell each had 10 points and four rebounds to lead UAPB.
- Arkansas-Pine Bluff was picked to finish seventh in the Southwestern Athletic Conference preseason poll as voted on the league's head coaches and sports information directors.
- Terrance Banyard and Doss were named Second Team Preseason All-SWAC. Doss appeared in 32 games with 26 starts in averaging 12.7 points (11th/SWAC), 4.2
rebounds, 2.0 assists, and 1.2 steals per game. He posted 20 double-digit scoring games. Banyard saw action in 32 games with 27 starts averaging 6.8 points and 5.0 rebounds per game (11th/SWAC) while ranking fourth in the conference with 38 blocked shots.
- Arkansas-Pine Bluff went 13-19 last season, including 10-8 in conference play, before ending the season with a loss to Texas Southern in the SWAC Tournament quarterfinals.
- Gonzaga is 13-0 all-time against SWAC opponents.
