Box Score BOZEMAN, Mont. – The #18/17 Gonzaga women's basketball team defeated Montana State 70-55 Thursday evening inside Worthington Arena in Bozeman, Mont. The Bulldogs shot 51.0 percent from the floor to offset a season-high 21 turnovers.
 
Gonzaga (7-1) was led in scoring by Jill Townsend with 16 points off 7-of-11 from the floor to go along with six rebounds and two steals. Katie Campbell added 11 points and Louise Forsyth chipped in a season-high 10 points, finishing 3-of-5 from long range.
 
The Bulldogs finished 25-of-49 from the floor to shoot 51.0 percent, the fifth game this season the Bulldogs have shot at least 50 percent from the floor. GU out-rebounded Montana State 33-29, limiting the Bobcats well below their season average of 44.5 rebounds per game. The Zags also forced MSU into 19 turnovers which led to 24 points for Gonzaga.

"This was a really good win against a tough Montana State team," head coach Lisa Fortier said. "We had some trouble finding our rhythm early, but we were able to rely on our defense in the first half. Thankfully, our team has a lot of weapons which makes it tough to game plan for. That showed in the second half with multiple players stepping up, both offensively and defensively. I'm proud of our efforts and happy to be heading home with a victory."
 
Eleven first-half turnovers from the Zags enabled Montana State (4-3) to keep things close as Gonzaga held a seven-point lead (29-22) after the first 20 minutes. A quick 7-3 GU run to open the third gave the Zags their first double-figure lead of the game at 11 points (36-25) with 7:42 to go. By the end of the quarter, the Bulldogs extended their lead to 15 points (46-31).
 
In the fourth quarter, Gonzaga extended its lead to as many as 21 points behind a monster nine-point effort from Forsyth. The Bulldogs shot 57.1 percent in the final quarter, including a stifling 83.3 percent from long range. Montana State matched GU's effort, scoring an identical 24 points with a 66.7 percent shooting effort from the floor. The Zags held steady to earn the 70-55 victory.
 
Montana State was led by Fallyn Freije with a game-high 18 points while Oliana Squires added 14 points and five rebounds.
 
Gonzaga returns to the floor Sunday, Dec. 8 at Washington State in Pullman, Wash., at 2 p.m.
