LAS VEGAS — Gonzaga men's tennis was able to take wins at the top of the lineup, but UNLV's depth proved to be the difference in a 4-2 loss on Saturday in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Gonzaga (4-2) earned victories at the top spot in doubles and the top two spots in singles, but UNLV (7-1) was able to come away with the win.
In doubles,
Sam Feit and
Ruadhan O'Sullivan won convincingly on No. 1, 6-2, but the Rebels won 6-3 on No. 2 and in a tiebreak 7-6(4) on No. 3 to earn the point.
In singles, it was Feit and O'Sullivan again with the wins. O'Sullivan took the first win of the day to make the score 1-1 overall when he won in straight sets, 6-3, 6-4. UNLV earned the next two matches to retake a 3-1 lead.
On No. 1, Feit won 6-2, 4-6, 6-3 to bring Gonzaga back within one at 3-2, but another three-setter that sealed it for UNLV. On No. 4, GU's
Kyle Everly battled back from down a set to win the second set, but UNLV's Jordan Sauer earned a 6-2 third set to win and clinch.
Gonzaga stays in Las Vegas for a neutral site match on Sunday with Northern Arizona (3-4) at 1 p.m.
