Zags Look to Finish Unbeaten Conference Record Saturday

Gonzaga looks to extend nation’s longest win streak to 20 in regular season finale

THE TIP-OFF:
- Gonzaga and Saint Mary's meet for the 99th time on Saturday in Moraga, Calif., at 7 p.m. The Zags have a 68-30 advantage in the series.
- GU has won 14 of the last 17 meetings, and is 42-10 against SMC under Mark Few. The Bulldogs are 23-18 all-time at Saint Mary's.
- Gonzaga is coming off an 86-66 win at Pacific Thursday. Rui Hachimura led the Zags with 27 points, while Brandon Clarke added 21 points.
- The Bulldogs have clinched their seventh straight West Coast Conference regular season title. It's the program's 22nd WCC regular season title.
- GU owns the longest active win streak in the country at 19.
- Gonzaga has won 31 straight conference road games, which is the longest active streak in the country.
- Clarke is first in the nation in field goal percentage (68.8), second with 95 blocks, and third averaging 3.17 blocks. Josh Perkins is sixth in the country with 203 assists and is ninth averaging 6.77 assists.
- The Zags are first in the nation in field goal percentage (53.4 percent), first in scoring margin (25.3), first in scoring offense (90.5), first in assist-to-turnover ratio (1.8), and second with 558 total assists.
- Through 15 games, the Bulldogs are outscoring their conference opponents by an average of 27.9 points.
 
SERIES NOTES:
- This is the 99th all-time meeting between Gonzaga and Saint Mary's
- GU leads the series 68-30, winning 14 of the last 17 meetings, and is 42-10 against SMC under Mark Few.
- The Zags are 23-18 all-time at Saint Mary's.
- In last season's meeting in Moraga, Rui Hachimura scored 23 points and was a key part of a defensive effort that neutralized Landale as the 12th-ranked Bulldogs ended the nation's longest active winning streak at 19 games with a 78-65 victory over the 11th ranked Gaels.
- In the matchup earlier this season in Spokane, Brandon Clarke scored 24 points and blocked three shots as Gonzaga routed Saint Mary's 94-46. Rui Hachmiura added 18 points and Filip Petrusev had 15 for the Zags.
- Gonzaga is 30-11 all-time at home against SMC. GU is 13-4 in the meetings in the McCarthey Athletic Center.
- The Zags won the first all-time meeting between the programs, 86-84, in Moraga on Dec. 23, 1971.
 
SCOUTING THE GAELS: 
- Saint Mary's coasted to a 65-48 win over Portland in Moraga Saturday.
- Malik Fitts led the Gaels with 17 points. Jordan Ford and Tanner Krebs added 15 and 12 points. Jordan Hunter grabbed a team-high 10 rebounds. Tommy Kuhse had five assists.
- SMC made 11-of-26 from behind-the-arc, and held Portland to 34 percent shooting from the field (3-of-13 from three).
- Ford leads the West Coast Conference averaging 21.5 points per game. Fitts adds 15.9 points per game and is fifth in the league with 7.7 rebounds a game.
- Tommy Kuhse averages 3.0 assists per game, while Ford dishes out 2.7 assists per outing.
- Ford tops the conference at 43.0 percent from behind-the-arc, making 2.1 threes per game.
- Saint Mary's is first in the WCC at 38.0 percent shooting from behind-the-perimeter.
 
A ZAG WIN WOULD ...
- Extend the nation's longest winning streak to 20, the third-longest in program history.
- Be Gonzaga's 42nd straight over an unranked team.
- Extend Gonzaga's national best conference win streak record to 30, including WCC Tournament games, 27 without.
- Extend GU's national best conference road win streak to 32.
- Be GU's 16th consecutive road win over an unranked team.
- Improve Josh Perkins' record to 130-17 in games he has played in for Gonzaga., including 34-1 in road WCC games.
 
ONE WIN AWAY:
- Gonzaga is one victory shy of finishing off a perfect season in West Coast Conference play.
- Only four GU programs have ever finished unbeaten in league play: 2003-04 (14-0), 2005-06 (14-0), 2008-09 (14-0) and 2012-13 (16-0).
- Since the WCC started in 1952-53, only 13 teams have gone unbeaten through league play.
 
ON PACE FOR ANOTHER RECORD:
- Gonzaga is beating West Coast Conference opponents by an average of 27.9 points.
- The 2016-17 Zags own the conference record for scoring margin in league games at 26.2.
- GU needs to win by at least two points Saturday at Saint Mary's to set a new margin of victory record in league play.

DUNK TRACKER:
- Gonzaga has 120 dunks as a team this season, passing last season's total of 107. The Zags had 97 in 2016-17.
- The Bulldogs opened the season with a season-high 12 dunks in the win over Idaho State. 
- Rui Hachimura leads the team with 50 dunks this season, Brandon Clarke is close behind with 43. Filip Petrusev is third on the team with nine.
- For those curious, Duke's Zion Williamson has 52 dunks, while Marques Bolden has 32 and RJ Barrett has 30.
