SEATTLE — Gonzaga men's tennis fell 6-1 on the road at Washington on Friday evening in Seattle.
GU (9-4) came up just short in the doubles point, and then fell behind in the second set in singles to Washington (4-9).
"It was a hard fought loss on the road to a Washington team that was pretty deep," head coach
Jonas Piibor said. "I thought we let the doubles point slip which was unfortunate. We will regroup and get ready for BYU on Friday. This team is battle-tested and will continue to improve."
In doubles, Gonzaga battled in doubles, answering the Huskies' win on No. 2 with a victory on No. 1 by
Sam Feit and
Ruadhan O'Sullivan, 6-4. On the clinching court, GU led 4-3, but UW came back on
Simon Homedes Dualde and
Emilio Moreno to win 6-4 and take the point.
Washington and Gonzaga split the first sets, winning three each on the six courts, but UW was able to come back on two of those and take five of six singles wins.
Gonzaga's
Ruadhan O'Sullivan took the lone win with a 6-4, 6-4 victory on No. 2.
Gonzaga will have a one-week break before jumping back into WCC play when the Zags host BYU on March 22 and 2 p.m. Links to live coverage will be available at GoZags.com.
