Women’s Tennis Drops 4-1 Match at No. 34 Oklahoma

GU’s Komer took the lone singles win on the day

NORMAN, Okla. — The 39th-ranked Gonzaga women's tennis team had another tough opponent in No. 34 Oklahoma and fell 4-1 on Saturday in Norman, Okla.

"It was a tough match, and all the credit goes to Oklahoma," head coach D.J. Gurule said. "They played really well on all courts, and we weren't completely in rhythm for parts of the match. We have a really tough travel schedule so we will get some rest tomorrow and then look to rebound against Wichita State."

The Zags (6-4) battled in doubles, with Sophie Whittle and Graciela Rosas leading at the time the point was clinched by the Sooners (10-3).

But in singles play, OU was able to take complete control of the match, winning the first set on five of six courts.

Only GU's Sara Komer was able to grab a win, taking a 6-1, 6-2 victory on No. 6 over OU's Skyler Miller.

Gonzaga travels to No. 40 Wichita State on Monday to wrap up their Midwest swing.  Links to live scoring are available at GoZags.com.
