S.A.A.C Senior Spotlight: Ana Delucchi

Get to know Women's Rowing senior Ana Delucchi

The SAAC Student-Athlete Spotlight is a weekly series that will highlight and promote senior Zag student-athletes on and off the playing field. This week's student-athlete is Ana Delucchi from Women's Rowing.

Delucchi has helped the Zags Women's Rowing team earn two WCC Championship titles as well as a program-record No. 15 national ranking in 2016. She has also been named WCC Crew of the Month and has been named to the Dean's List on multiple occasions.

We caught up with the senior economics major from Seattle, Wash., to gain some insight on her experience as a student-athlete at Gonzaga.

What do you like most about being a student-athlete at Gonzaga?
The athletic department feels like one big family. I love being able to have friends on other teams, which does not happen everywhere.

What do you enjoy most about playing this sport?
There is a direct correlation between how hard you work and how well you do; success is entirely effort-based.

What are some of your team or personal goals?
I want Gonzaga Women's Rowing to win a national championship. It might not be when I am at GU, but I want to lay the groundwork so that eventually my team gets there.

What is your favorite memory as a Zag?
Unexcitingly winning WCCs my sophomore year because we overcame a lot of adversity and had trained really hard all year.

What does it mean to be a Zag?
Knowing that anyone on campus is willing to go out of their way to help you.

Favorite musical artist?
Michael Bublé.

Favorite food?
Caprese Salad.

Favorite sports-related movie?
Invictus.

Favorite community service event at Gonzaga?
Habitat for Humanity because you can see the material difference you are making in your community and those in need of a helping hand.

What attracted you to Gonzaga?
The community and the sense of family that Gonzaga has to offer.
