Jacob on NCBWA Stopper of the Year Watch List
- Alek Jacob was one of 45 players nationally named to the NCBWA Stopper of the Year Watch List.
- Starting out the year as a starter, but converting to the closer due to need, he has racked up nine saves, leads the team with seven wins, and has 74 strikeouts in 69.1 innings pitched.
- Jacob is holding opposing hitters to a .202 batting average and has a 2.34 ERA on the year.
- In April, Jacob was even better, compiling a 0.83 ERA with three saves and a 3-0 record across seven appearances with one start. He struck out 24 in 21.2 innings and held hitters to a .162 batting average for the month.

Lardner Leading the Pitching Staff

- Lardner has pitched through the sixth in each of his last five starts and struck out at least eight in three of his last four outings.
- Against the WCC, he has 40 strikeouts against just six walks.

Iverson Finding the Right Stuff
- After a tough start to the season out of the bullpen, Nick Trogrlic-Iverson has been solid down the stretch of the season, starting three times and coming out of the pen seven times in his last 10 outings.
- In that stretch, he has kept opponents scoreless in five of seven outings in relief and gone at least 5.0 innings in each of his starts, while compiling a 4.30 ERA in 29.1 innings with 20 strikeouts.
- Most recently, he had a perfect game through the fifth inning against Lamar, with seven strikeouts, before the Cardinals got to him in the sixth.

- Troy Johnston continued his torried month, launching a two-run homer to pace the offense.

Pac-12 Foes Aplenty
- Gonzaga went 4-6 against the Pac-12 this season after defeating then-No. 3 Oregon State last week before dropping a game against Washington State and on the road at Oregon.
- Earlier this season, Gonzaga won 5-3 on the road at Utah. In that game, the Zags got 4.1 innings from lefty starter Matthew Henckel (2 R, 7 H) and 4.2 innings from the bullpen (combined 1 R, 6 H), and Nick Nyquist hit a three-run homer with the Zags down 2-1 in the sixth to put them ahead for good.
- In March, Gonzaga took down last year's College World Series participant Washington in a single-game midweek contest, 5-4. The Zags got out to leads of 3-0 and 4-3, before breaking a four-all tie in the bottom of the eighth. Ernie Yake knocked home Brett Harris with a hard-hit ball to the first baseman's left for the deciding run. Michael Spellacy came out in the ninth and went 1-2-3 for his first career save.
