Zags Add Rhea Jansen for 2019 Season

Bulldogs 2019 recruiting class now complete

SPOKANE, Wash. – Gonzaga head volleyball coach Diane Nelson has announced the addition of Rhea Jansen to the Bulldog squad for the 2019 season. Jansen, along with Tia Andaya, Alyssa Hughes, Alisa Kim, Kirra Schulz and Zoe Thiros complete the 2019 recruiting class for the Zags.

Rhea Jansen | 5-9 | Libero/Outside Hitter | Valleyford, Wash. | Freeman HS

Jansen, a Valleyford, Wash., native, played both libero and outside hitter for the Freeman High School Scotties, averaging 3.7 kills, 4.3 digs and 0.7 aces per set. Jansen led the Scotties in kills, digs and serve receive, and she's a two-time Northeast 'A' League First Team All-Conference performer. Jansen led Freeman to four-straight state appearances, placing at state each season. During her junior and senior seasons, she was named to the state all-tournament team as well as being an all-state team selection.

Why Jansen chose Gonzaga: I chose Gonzaga because I've grown up a Zag fan, and I love the community atmosphere around the athletics [programs]. I know that the great coaches, teammates and academics will push me to be better as both an athlete and a person. Go Zags!

Coach Nelson on Jansen: Rhea has so much to offer our program. She is a tough kid with a lot of potential to do great things at Gonzaga. It was an immediate fit when she stepped on campus. We are looking forward to being on this journey with her.
