Oxy Invite: Aimee Piercy and
Claire Manley represent the Gonzaga women at the annual meet hosted by Occidental College in Los Angeles. Last year's field included programs from all over the country, looking for NCAA qualifying times late in the season.
West Coast Invitational: The annual West Coast Invitational has provided many late season highlights for some of the region's best. Athletes from Gonzaga will compete against Willamette, BYU, Loyola Marymount, Oregon State, Portland, Saint Mary's, San Francisco, Santa Clara, Lewis & Clark, Linfield, Pacific, and Puget Sound.
Last time at the West Coast Invitational: In 2016, Shelby Mills broke her own 3,000-meter steeplechase program record. Mills easily won the race on Willamette University's Charles Bowles Track with a time of 9:56.17 …
Kellen Manley moved from third to second on the men's 3,000-meter steeplechase all-time list. He placed second in the race at 8:57.75 … In the men's 1,500 meters,
Mason Villarma cruised to a first place finish with a time of 3:46.05. The freshman's time ranks third in program history. Zac Garrard (3:47.63, 3rd) and Ian Goldizen (3:50.86, 6th) ran the fifth and seventh fastest times on the GU all-time lists …
Molly Foster set the new women's 400-meter hurdle program record with a three-second personal record. The freshman placed third at 1:07.08.
Last time out: James Mwaura set a new 5,000-meter school record at the Payton Jordan Invitational. Mwaura crossed the line at 13:46.17 in 11th place. He finished as the third-fastest collegian in the race …
Brandon Pollard took the men's mile title at the Spokane Memorial Open. The Zags swept the top 11 spots of the mile led by Pollard. He crossed the line at 4:07.71.
Scott Kopczynski was second at 4:08.15, followed by
Yacine Guermali in third with a time of 4:11.29 … In the men's 5,000 meters,
Phillip Fishburn was first at 14:56.52.
Hunter Simpson placed third with a time of 15:05.64 …
Morgan Greene was second in the women's mile. She crossed the line at 5:20.90 … At the Ken Shannon Invitational in Seattle,
Mason Villarma was second in the men's 1,500 meters. His time of 3:49.27 was a season-best for the Zags.
