Gonzaga Welcomes Mitch Coughlin as Academic Coordinator

"Gonzaga Athletics has a track record that speaks for itself," Coughlin said. "I was sold on the people and the culture of the University and the Athletics family when I visited, and I was truly impressed with the recent success they have achieved on the field, in the classroom and in the community. I am excited to be a part of a program that strives each day to make themselves, and most importantly, those around them better."

Coughlin joins the Athletic Department from Syracuse University where he worked as an Academic Support Assistant for both the men's basketball and women's volleyball programs. Prior to his time at Syracuse, Coughlin was a teacher for both the fourth and fifth grades at St. Anthony School in Robstown, Texas. His teaching experience came as part of the University of Notre Dame's Alliance for Catholic Education (ACE) Teaching Fellows Program.

Coughlin is a 2017 graduate of Dayton and earned his Master's of Education from Notre Dame in 2019. Coughlin, a former baseball player at Dayton, was a two-time team captain and the recipient of the 2017 Presidential Scholar-Athlete Award.
