TEMPE, Ariz. — Gonzaga women's tennis placed seven student-athletes on the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Scholar-Athlete list and was named an ITA All-Academic Team, announced Monday.
GU's seven honorees marked the second straight year and third time in program history with at least seven. Seniors

Haruna Tsuruta and
Katie Day, sophomore
Vlada Medvedcova and freshmen
Cate Broerman,
Maria Frampton and
Jenna Sloan were all named ITA Scholar-Athletes. To be named an ITA Scholar-Athlete, one must have a grade point average of at least 3.5 (on a 4.00 scale) for the current academic year.
As a team, 2020 was the second straight year and seventh time in program history earning the ITA All-Academic Team Award. To be named an ITA All-Academic Team, programs must have a team grade point average of 3.2 or above (on a 4.00 scale).
Ketels, a senior from Kalamazoo, Mich., graduated with a degree in sport management and earned the honor for the second straight season. She was second on the team with 11 singles wins this season and nine doubles wins, playing the top spots in both lineups.
Day, a senior from Lake Oswego, Ore., is majoring in business administration and posted a 3-4 singles record and 2-4 doubles record this season.
Tsuruta, a senior from Fukuoka, Japan, graduated with a degree in international business, while tying Ketels for second on the team with 11 singles wins. Tsuruta also won five doubles matches on the year.
Medvedcova, sophomore from Chisinau, Moldova, is majoring in sport management and led the team with 12 singles wins and 11 doubles wins. She played at No. 1 in the doubles lineup alongside Ketels and at Nos. 2 and 3 in singles.
Broerman, a freshman from Scottsdale, Ariz., is majoring in sport management and played in the top spot in the in half of GU's dual matches. She compiled an 11-8 overall record in singles and was fourth on the team in doubles wins with seven on the year.
Sloan, a freshman from Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif., is majoring in sport management and went 7-3 on the year in singles. She won the Gonzaga Invitational in the fall, going 3-0, and was 4-3 in dual matches in the No. 6 spot in the lineup.
Frampton, a freshman from Kalispell, Mont., is an undeclared business major and collected three wins in singles and three wins in doubles on the year.
