Bulldogs Earn Senior Day Win over San Diego

Zags match program record with 12th win

SPOKANE, Wash. — Gonzaga women's soccer matched the program record with their 12th win of the season, picking up a 1-0 shutout victory over San Diego at Luger Field Saturday.

The Zags (12-5-0, 2-4-0 West Coast Conference) equaled the 2005, 2008 and 2019 GU squads program record of 12 wins in a single season. This Bulldog squad owns the GU single season records for most goals (43), assists (36), points (122) and shots (345).

Saturday's lone goal came just 15 seconds into the match. Kacy Johnston found Erin Healy just outside the 18-yard box, Healy then curled in a shot over the USD keeper. It was Healy's seventh goal of the season and Johnston's second assist.

Gonzaga outshot the Toreros (6-9-0, 1-5-0 WCC) 22-11, including a 7-3 edge in shots on goal. The Bulldogs took seven corner kicks in the match, compared to San Diego's three. The possession was even at 50 percent.

Judith Sorribes made six saves in the Torero net, while Lyza Bosselmann had three for Gonzaga.

The Zags honored four seniors that were playing one of their final games at Luger Field prior to the match. The four GU seniors have been a part of the most successful four-year span in program history winning 41 games.

The Bulldogs visit Saint Mary's (9-2-4, 3-1-2) next Saturday for a 1 p.m. match. The Gaels drew even with No. 3 Pepperdine Saturday, 0-0.
