Rose Hayes Joins Women's Tennis

Hayes is a 5-star recruit and ranks in the top 60 nationally

SPOKANE, Wash. – Head coach Natalie Pluskota-Hamberg announced the addition of Rose Hayes on Wednesday.

Hayes is a multi-sport athlete as she runs track for her high school and has competed on the varsity level since seventh grade.
 
"We are so excited about the addition of Rose to our program," Pluskota-Hamberg said. "Her commitment to excellence in the classroom and passion to develop on the court will make her a perfect fit. We are confident she will blossom in our team environment as she is a gifted athlete with tremendous character. We cannot wait to have her as part of our Zag Family!"
 
According to TennisRecruiting.net, Hayes is a 5-star recruit. She has been named an All-American by the National High School Tennis-All American Foundation and is one of 25 girls to receive the recognition. She plans on majoring in nursing while at GU.
 
"I choose Gonzaga because the university offers an outstanding undergraduate nursing program combined with high performance tennis," Hayes said. "Connecting with the coaches and the inviting atmosphere of the team made me feel at home. I am so happy to be a part of the Zag Family!"
 
At the Empire Cup Champion Doubles Tournament, she has won back-to-back years in 2019 and 2020. Hayes was the USTA Eastern Championships L4 G18 Champion in 2020.She also placed fifth at the UTSA L2 G18's in Chattanooga, Tenn.  Overall, Hayes is currently ranked in the top 60 nationally in her class, according to TennisRecruiting.net.
