Box Score SANTA CLARA, Calif. — Facing Santa Clara (10-14, 6-8) in West Coast Conference action Thursday evening, Gonzaga volleyball fell in straight sets (16-25, 12-25, 17-25) at SCU's Leavey Center.
Zoe Thiros and Cara McKenzie led the Bulldogs (7-19, 3-12) with seven kills apiece, with McKenzie notching a .385 attack average on just two errors. Kennedy Croft added five more kills to an all-around effort with two assists, six digs and a service ace, and Keau Kamake'eaina put up the other 21 of the Zags' 23 total assists while adding a service ace of her own. McKenzie also led the team in total blocks with three, while Viktoriya Ivanova connected on a team-high seven digs.
Getting three kills from Croft and two more from McKenzie in a decisive third set, the Zags cracked double-digit kills for the first time of the match, tying the score three times before a 5-0 Broncos run gave them an advantage they wouldn't relinquish again while closing the match with a 25-17 final.
